ABOUT THE ARTIST
Holly Tempo, who received an MFA from the Claremont Graduate University, is known for her paintings and site-specific works. With an active professional career that spans over three decades, the artist has shown at a variety of venues including at Launch LA, LAMAG at Barnsdall Art Park, California African American Museum, Feral Projects, West LA College, Molly Barnes Gallery, Autonomie Projects, LACMA Art & Film Lab, 2A Gallery, POST, LACE, Irvine FA Center, LAX and Ontario Airports, Beacon Gallery, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Angels Gate Cultural Center, Self Help Graphics & Arts, Beyond Baroque, William Grant Still Art Center, Rio Hondo Art Gallery, Luckman FA Center, Track 16 Gallery, Riverside Art Museum, Ruth Bachofner Gallery, Frumkin/Duval Gallery, Kohn Turner Gallery, Huntington Beach Art Center, San Bernardino County Museum of Art; and internationally in Ecuador, France, Great Britain, India, Israel, Panama, Spain, and The Netherlands.
Tempo served as faculty in the Fine Arts Department at Otis College of Art & Design for 16 years before embarking on a freelance career in 2017. Born in Minneapolis, the artist recently relocated to Viseu, Portugal where she lives and maintains a studio. She is a 2019-20 City of LA Department of Cultural Affairs COLA fellow and a 2012 recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. In 2017, the artist was selected by the City of Inglewood to do a collaborative series of public artworks as part of the Inglewood Growing Artists Performed Projects (I-GAPP) Program.
